Information panels along the way will help you to discover the region’s rich industrial past. Metallurgy was big business in Gaume at one time because the region was well suited to it. The rivers had a regular flow and the forests provided the necessary fuel: charcoal. The mines provided iron ore which could be extracted not far below the surface.
