From here you have an exceptional view of the Semois as it meanders along the valley from Termes (a typical Gaume village with a row of houses and the traditional wide pavement style frontage so often seen outside French road-front houses) and in the background the foothills of the Ardennes with the huge Rossignol-Suxy-Chiny forest. Below your feet is the old ford for taking geese across the Semois river. In the distance, is the edge of the wood behind the church at Termes, the office of the caretaker for the château Croisettes. This viewpoint from the first (Sinemurian) cuesta offers an exceptional panoramic view over the meanders of the Semois as well as the village of Termes, and up to the fringes of Chiny’s large forest. The village of Termes is typical of Gaume: rows of houses with a ‘paquis’ in front of each house (a space between the house and the road formerly used to store farming tools, firewood or manure). In the background can be seen the foothills of the Ardennes with the large Rossignol-Suxy-Chiny forest. At your feet is the old geese ford that crosses the Semois. In the background you can notice, on the edge of the woods behind Termes church, the caretaker's lodge of Croisettes castle.
