Fairies’ Hole in Chassepierre

Fairies’ Hole in Chassepierre

Presentation

The Fairies’ Hole, an exceptional testament to the geological times of the tertiary period, is a network of underground tunnels hollowed out in the limestone by man. They extend under the foundations of the old mill and join the presbytery where they merge with the cellars. The name “Fairies’ Hole” relates to a legend that says fairies used to live in this magical place. A rare geological site when you know that many houses in the village are built on the limestone.
