Unique in our region, the dolmen that can still be found in Gomery, along with the one in Wéris, are the only collective tombs from this era in Belgium. The existence of a ‘large stone’ emerging from the ground had been known for many years. Inhabitants of Gomery used to call it ‘the piece of star’. In 1966, Jean Bailleux de Gomery unearthed it. This dolmen from the second millennium BC consists of a large block of Stonne stone resting on four supports. Various digs have taken place in this spot. They have uncovered different items such as a large knife, a fragment of a polished axe, arrow heads and also potsherds, reminiscent of the Iron Age.
