A very peculiar site where you can admire flora and fauna that are specific to this dry and sunny environment. Created in 2001, the National Reserve of the Steel Slag Heap in Musson is very important because it is the last slag heap of the Luxembourg Province. There are 40 bird species and 40 insects species, including the blue-wing grasshopper (Oedipoda caerulescens), a protected species in Wallonia. This grasshopper only lives in dry places, in low and open vegetation. Donkeys and sheep welcome you and gently maintain the environment. You can enter the Reserve by going through the entry gate, and following the authorized path that crosses the site. Enjoy a nice loop walk starting in the village of Musson. Don’t forget to close the gates while crossing the natural reserve!
