History :The arboretum of Virton was created in 1915 by the town of Virton.At the end of the 17th century, collectors had started to take an interest in exotic woody species. Come and admire more than 80 species of trees in this arboretum that is worth more than one visit...Covering an area of 1.42 hectares, this arboretum is located where the Virton-Etalle road meets the road leading to the Rabais valley.This easily accessible space, created by the town of Virton in 1915, is home to more than 80 species of trees. To name but a few, the giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) planted in 1916 and standing 32 metres tall, the tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) with the surprising springtime bloom, the ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa) native to the Rocky Mountains, the Corsican pine (Pinus nigra ssp. Laricio) and the Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) are just some examples.
