RAVeL from Saint-Mard to Croix-Rouge

Presentation

The path is all laid out. Virton’s former railway tracks have been transformed into pleasant walking routes linking Virton with the villages of Ethe and Ruette. Known as the ‘slow ways’ they weave the length of the two rivers between the Gaume ridges that form its banks. These routes are safe, asphalted paths, ideal for families with children in pushchairs or buggies, for cyclists, those on horseback, people with reduced mobility, and everyone, young and old. Eight sections have been completed to date.An information sheet is available from the Gaume Tourist Information Centre in Virton. The RAVeL network is a series of routes for slower users. These are safe tracks on tarmac, ideal for families with children in pushchairs, cyclists, horse riders, people with reduced mobility, the young and not so young. This section of the RAVeL (line 155) is mostly in the woods and begins in the village of Saint-Mard, famous for basket making, alongside its big sister Virton. A few kilometres along this RAVeL route you will pass the village of Ethe before ending up in Croix-Rouge where you can find the Fairies’ Footpath.
