Ce cimetière paisible, enfoncé dans la forêt, est inscrit au patrimoine civil de Wallonie.En 1917, les Allemands décidèrent de créer des cimetières militaires pour regrouper les corps des milliers de soldats allemands et français morts lors du combat de Rossignol du 22 août 1914. Au départ, 887 soldats y ont été inhumés : 738 français, 148 allemands et 1 russe. La nécropole fut conçue en forme d'hexagone régulier et les tombes disposées en cercle autour d'un rond-point où domine un monument. Après la guerre, de nombreuses familles françaises rapatrièrent les corps de leurs parents dans leurs localités d’origine et les dépouilles allemandes furent regroupées dans le cimetière de Termes, puis dans celui de Virton.
